Transport within Oslo

Public transportation in Oslo is quite efficient. Buses, taxis and the metro are convenient and frequent. Please note that your 33IGC badge does not give you free travel on the Oslo public transport system.

The public transport provider is Oslo Sporveier (Tel:  +47 815 54 411 ). A one-hour ticket costs NOK22 if bought in advance or NOK30 if bought on board; a 24-hour ticket costs NOK60. A one-day Oslo pass, which costs NOK220, is valid for most museums and sights and for all public transportation in Oslo and it surroundings. The pass can be purchased at tourists offices and hotels and is also available for 48 hours ( NOK320) and 72 hours (NOK410).

For details about public transportation contact Trafikanten Service Center.

Taxis can be flagged down on the street or booked through Oslo Taxi (Tel:  +47 22 38 80 90 ). From Monday to Friday, 6 am to 5 pm, the rate is NOK 15 per kilometer with a starting fee of NOK 32. Rates are higher during other periods.

Oslo city centre is relatively small, and most of it is within walking distance. There are small ferries from the harbour in front of the City Hall to the inner Oslofjord islands and to the Bygdøy peninsula where many museums are located.
