Kongsberg Silver Mines

Date:
Sunday 10 August
Duration: 7 hours
Departure from the City Hall 09.00, meeting point will be on the city side of City Hall. Return to the City Hall 16.00.

About 1½ hours by bus north west of Oslo lies the small town of Kongsberg – a city with a former silver mine. Upon arrival we board the “mining train” that will take us through the 2,300 metres of King Christian IV Adit. The bottom of the mine is 1,070 metres below the surface, which corresponds to 560 metres below sea level. The guided tour takes place 342 metres below the surface and includes a demonstration of the old “Fahrkunst”, the first personnel lift to be introduced here at the Kongsberg Mines, an installation that took the miners down another 300 metres.

Lunch will be served in the picturesque Sakkerhus buildings.

Price per person:  90,- incl. transportation, guide, entrance fees and lunch.
